Healthcare Clinics in Retail Stores, Drug Stores
NAFAC to Focus on Clinics in Retail Stores at April ConferenceApril conference in Las Vegas will focus on the emergence of healthcare clinics in retail stores like Target, Wal-Mart, CVS Pharmacy, Osco Drug and various grocery stores.
Minneapolis (PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- The National Association for Ambulatory Care (NAFAC) announced today that a major focus of its April conference in Las Vegas will be the emergence of healthcare clinics in retail stores like Target, Wal-Mart, CVS Pharmacy, Osco Drug and various grocery stores. An entire day will be devoted to retail-based clinics, within a conference theme of Thriving in a Consumer-Driven World.
There have been virtually no conferences aimed exclusively at physicians and clinic operators on consumer-driven healthcare in general, and particularly not on the emerging market for clinics in retail stores, said Tom Charland, executive director of NAFAC. This is a great opportunity to understand what companies are operating these clinics, who their retail partners are, what cities theyve entered, and how physicians plan to react. On a broader level, this conference will bring to light the things physicians need to be doing in their back office to prepare for the rapid increase in high-deductible plans that qualify for HSA enrollment, and how they can market their services to these enrollees.
Other session topics will include the following:
- HSAs and their impact on physician practices, featuring Dan Perrin, founder of the HSA Coalition;
- The future payment infrastructure for HSA claims, featuring Beverly Kennedy, president of First Datas healthcare operations;
- Choosing an electronic medical record and practice management systems, featuring David Kibbe, M.D., from the AAFPs Center for Healthcare Information Technology;
- Infectious disease management and the role of ambulatory clinics, featuring Katherine West, author of The Infectious Disease Handbook for Emergency Care Personnel;
- Marketing to the new healthcare consumer, featuring Meg Flanagan from the Healthcare Financial Management Association;
- Occupational medicine as a logical extension of a physician practice, featuring Jefferey Flynn, MD, of NOW Care Medical Centers.
The conference will take place April 5-8, 2006, at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. For more information or to register for the conference, call (952) 767-2403 or go online to http://www.nafac.com.
